Hade Edge Residents: Power Cut Updates

We’ve heard your concerns about the recent power cuts in Hade Edge and surrounding areas. I’ve been in touch with Northern Powergrid and their Customer Service Manager for West Yorkshire, Jay Palmer, to get some answers.

Here’s what we know:

๐Ÿ‘‰The high voltage network in our area passes 33,000kW through smaller substations, reducing it to 11,000kW. This network spans a large rural area and is mostly made up of overhead cables.

๐Ÿ‘‰Since September 2024, there have been 6 recorded power cuts, with 4 of them having no confirmed cause. These outages occurred on January 19th, February 8th, February 14th, and February 16th, affecting over 326 residents.

To identify the root cause, Northern Powergrid has:

๐Ÿ‘‰Deployed engineers to the area

๐Ÿ‘‰Re-routed electricity

๐Ÿ‘‰Conducted line patrols

๐Ÿ‘‰Installed fault monitoring equipment

๐Ÿ‘‰Planned aerial investigations with helicopters and drones in the coming days

The cause of the recent power cuts is still unknown, but I’ve asked Northern Powergrid to keep us all informed about their progress in resolving this frustrating issue.
